Every 3 months, your Seasonal Box arrives. It’s filled with products and stories that encourage sustainable choices, replace single-use products with reusable alternatives, and support eco-conscious business practices — but what about the impact of shipping? As a brand committed to people and the planet, we’ve partnered with Grow Ahead to take responsibility for our carbon footprint and neutralize the environmental impact of shipping, while at the same time, supporting farm communities that are often the first to feel the effects of this global crisis.
Historically, we’ve allowed members to pay for an Eco-Shipping Add-On. Now, Eco-Shipping will no longer be an upgrade — we’ve made the decision to include it with every Seasonal Box shipment! This is just part of a series of company and membership initiatives developed to counteract the carbon footprint associated with shipping packages each season.
How does it work?
Proceeds from Eco-shipping will be contributed to Grow Ahead as part of Alltrue's partnership! The idea of corporate tree planting projects and sponsorships may not be new to you, but all programs are not all created equal. We spent nearly a year searching for the right partner before teaming up with the non-profit organization, Grow Ahead, because of their unique focus on both people and the planet. We couldn’t be more proud of the partnership, and the opportunity to connect the Alltrue Community with such an inspiring organization. Together, we’re sponsoring agroforestry projects, which combat climate change by investing in small-scale farmers and community-led reforestation projects.
Eco-shipping unlocks an investment directly in small-farmer organizations to replant trees in high-impact agroforestry areas. Agroforestry is the intentional planting of trees and cash crops (like coffee and cocoa) together in a food-forest system. This allows farmers to restore water and nutrients to their soil, increase production of food, and pull carbon out of the air. Agroforestry is a solution that benefits farmers and the planet. By planting trees in these biodiverse systems — together with crops — farmers can meet community needs, generate income through organic and fair trade product sales, and enhance their climate resiliency.
In 2021 alone, because of the Eco-Upgrade, the Alltrue Community has:
- Contributed to the responsible planting of over 100,000 trees in Brazil, Columbia, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Peru.
- Impacted over 1,000 farmers and 10,000 community members across 6 nations.
